Deciding what type of pet to get

Please speak to us should you want help making the best decision.

Here are some of the things to consider:

Pet Adoption

Here is some information if you're considering adopting a pet:

Please consider adopting your new pet from an animal charity or rescue organisation.

See our links page for some recommended charities. These organisations provide temporary homes for stray, surrendered, or abandoned pets. They have all types of pets and breeds (pure bred or mixed breed) and work hard to find suitable, caring owners. All of the animals are looking for a forever, loving home.

There are so many abandoned animals looking for someone to love them.

You can save an animal and make such a wonderful difference!

Purebred Pets

If you're considering a purebred pet, here is some important information:

A responsible breeder is another source for a pure-bred pet. It's very important to do your research and only deal with responsible breeders. Sadly, some breeders are irresponsible and breed animals as "products" to sell. They are motivated solely by profit.

Please do not support irresponsible breeders and puppy mills.

When visiting a breeder, ask lots of questions and inspect every aspect of the conditions the pets are raised in. Pets should be housed in an un-caged, hygienic location. They should be clean and well fed, lively and healthy. Be sure they have no signs of illness such as a runny nose or eyes, dirty ears, or fleas.

Should you come across any unhealthy or inhumane conditions, please report them to your nearest animal welfare officer.

Daily pet care suggestions

Pets, like humans, need daily care for the health of mind and body. Meeting their needs is not that difficult.

Here are a few guidelines about daily pet care:
